Battle of the skin care! Garnier vs Clearasil

GARNIER vs CLEARASIL

Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask vs Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub
(both products are in the packaging that they are in France)

So, I suppose I'll start from the beginning.
I have ALWAYS had acne prone skin. Unfortunately, puberty didn't treat me well and I got the typical "teenage face". It seemed like I tried every product on the market to clear up my blemishes but nothing ever seemed to work. Of course, over time and with age, my skin gradually began to clear up.
However, I do still occasionally struggle with breakouts and oily skin (hooray for being female). So I prefer to use a facewash/scrub that helps to keep all those problems at bay!

The first product I found was the Clearasil Biactol Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub.

It's reasonably priced, it has nice packaging and Clearasil is a brand that I trust that is widely available. It contains microbeads that gently scrub away any eccess oil, dirt and dead skin cells to help keep your face clean. It also claims to reduce spot size and redness in as little as 12 hours.
For me, I didn't experience anything "amazing" or "revolutionary" from this face scrub. Yes, after using it, my skin did feel clean and felt a lot less oily and fresh right away but my spots and blemishes didn't seem to reduce in redness or size - if anything it just made them redder! Of course, everyone's skin will react differently but for me, this face scrub felt too harsh and brutal for my skin. The microbeads felt a bit "scratchy" for me, even when I didn't scrub too hard. After using this face scrub for well over 4 months, I saw no real changes in my skin. I still got break outs pretty often and my skin was just as oily as before after a couple of hours. For me, it didn't get to the root of the problem, and keep spots at bay, it was more of just a "quick fix".
All in all, for what this face scrub cost me (under 4 euros), it was pretty good and I would recommend it if you're looking for an exfoliant. However, if you do have spot-prone skin, I wouldn't rely on it to give you the results you want (clear up your break outs). Like I said previously, everyone will be different but, for me, I was a little disappointed when I compare this scrub to the other Clearasil products I have had before.

However, recently (about a month or two ago), I switched to the Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask.
This scrub has quickly become my favourite. It can be used as a face wash, an exfoliant or a face mask. Each thing has a different result. Garnier claims that "Used As a wash: It deeply cleanses to remove excess oil and purify skin. Used as a scrub: It exfoliates dead skin cells and unclogs pores to dislodge blackheads. Used as a mask: It helps eliminate excess sebum and mattifies the skin." And to me, it really does work!
I love to use it as a mask. I apply it evenly all over my face and leave it to set for about 3 minutes. Then, I wet my hands and gently scrub in a circular motion all over my skin (which makes the mask now turn into an exfoliant) and then proceed to wash it off with warm water and pat my skin dry.
With this product, I instantly see results. It evens out my skin and reduces oil and shine. My skin has been so smooth and spot-free for the past couple of months that I've been using this product and I'm really inpressed. Like the Clearasil one, the Garnier wash-scrub-mask also contains micro beads to gently exfoliate your skin but the difference, i find, is that the beads are much smaller thus much more gentle on the skin.
As you may be able to see on the label, this face mask-scrub-wash (miracle product, more like!!) also contains salicylic acide (acide salicylique) which is known for fighting against acne and is used in a lot of acne treatments. That's probably why it's helped my skin and breakouts so much.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone! It doesn't dry out my skin or irritate it in any way and I've never had any problems or negative side effects using it! You essentially get 3 products in one bottle for one extremely reasonable price (I paid around 4 euros in Hyper U)! It does exactly what it says on the bottle and is definitely worth a try if you're looking for something that is gentle enough to use daily but is still very effective. I saw more results in the first 2 weeks of using this Garnier product than I did after using the Clearasil scrub after almost 6 months which is incredible! When I run out, this will be a repurchase for me!

Both of these products are great for the price and are both readily available and easy to find in your local drugstore or supermarket. This is just my personal opinion and, of course, everyone's skin will react differently so there may be some of you out there who prefer the Clearasil one or another product completely because everyone is different! I just thought it might help some people to see someone else's point of view and opinion if they're struggling to decide :)

So, I hope this helped someone in some way and you found this post useful :) Let me know if you like this product comparison kinda thing as I'm thinking I'll do more in the future!
