Get ready with me: Everyday neutrals!

Helloooo lovely people!

I really do sincerely apologise for my lack of blogging lately! But I promise to sort that out in the near future!
Today I come to you with another YouTube video that I recently posted on my channel, Tanyaskywalker! It's a quick and simple "Get Ready With Me" style video with a quick "Outfit Of The Day" at the end.
For my make up, I used a range of products (some of which are quite new to me) including an MUA blush and lipstick. As always, I used my tried and trusted Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette to create my neutral eye look.

If you would like to see how I did my make up, my hair and what outfit I wore that day then check out my channel (http://m.youtube.com/?reload=7&rdm=vy0gxit#/user/Tanyaskywalker) where you can watch this video and the rest of my beauty, fashion and lifestyle related videos! Alternatively you can just click play on the video link above!
Also, please SUBSCRIBE to my channel, Tanyaskywalker, to stay updated with more vlogs, makeup tutorials and lots of other fun stuff!

Thank you!

Where have I been?!

Hello lovelies!

So, long time no blog!
I've been a very busy bee so I do apologise for the lack of blog posts for the past month!

First things first, I spent 2 weeks in my hometown in West Yorkshire in the UK at my grandma's house. I spent my time with friends and family, some of which I haven't seen in 3 years! It was so nice to see everyone and I had so much fun!

But with my grandma being a techno-phobe, of course she doesn't have internet (hence the lack of posts!)!

For my 3rd week, I went down to Reading to spend time with my boyfriend :) We went to Thorpe Park, we went shopping in the centre of Reading and just basically spent a lot of time exploring the area! I absolutely loved Reading and the surrounding areas and can't wait to go back there!

So, I hope this post explains where I've been and what I've been doing and somewhat justifies my absence!
As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog! :)
I have plenty more ideas for blog posts and Youtube videos such as hauls and tutorials and reviews and all that fun stuff so stay tuned!

Until the next time,

Myluxury1st clip-in hair extension streak review!

Myluxury1st

20" long, 1" wide clip-in hair extension streak in purple

So hello there lovely people of the internet!
I'm here today with a review of a clip-in hair extension streak that I recently got sent from a company called Myluxury1st!
I received my hair extension relatively quick considering it was being shipped from the USA to France (it only took about 10 days if that!). It was well packaged in a padded envelope. The hair extension was packaged in a plastic bag with a sticky seal so it was air tight so nothing could get in or damage the product. It was also tied with a little ribbon so that the hair didn't get all tangled together. In the bag with the hair extension, you receive a little info leaflet (pictured above) with lots of useful information like how to care for your extension, price lists for extensions, a return policy and information about the company.
The lady who runs the company works on her own. She manufactures all of the products by herself. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about her products and what she does which is excellent to see! She is very willing to help with any problems or questions you may have about your order which is very useful indeed! All of her hair extensions are handmade by her so you know that you will not just be receiving some mass-produced rubbish from china!

The hair extension itself is 100% real human hair. This means that you can do whatever you would do to your own hair with this extension. You can curl it, straighten it or, like I have in these photos, braid it overnight to give it a nice wave. But, of course, please take care of your extension as you would your normal hair as this will keep it in better condition for longer.
When washed, the extension has a natural wave to it which is the same as my natural hair. It flows nicely with the hair which helps in to blend in.

It is a lovely colour (I ordered the purple one but there are plenty more colours to choose from!). It doesn't look like "barbie hair", it just looks like you have dyed a streak in your hair.

The clip is very strudy and grips the hair well without tugging or feeling uncomfortable. On my hair, the clip is very easy to hide but I do have quite thick hair so I don't know how it would work on thinner hair.

All in all, I absolutely LOVE this clip-in hair streak! It's a great pop of colour to my hair wthout damaging it from colouring it that I can just remove whenever I feel like it. A great company and a great quality product that I would definitely recommend to anyone. The prices are very reasonable for the quality that you are receiving and the work that has gone into giving you such a great product.

Until the next time,
Tanya xoxo

DISCLAIMER: Even though I was sent this product, I would never lie just to get "brownie points". This review is 100% my honest opinion. I would never give something a positive review if I didn't believe in what I was saying and I didn't actually like the product. I don't see the point in giving "false advertising" encouraging you guys to go and buy this product if I didn't actually think it was any good. So rest assured that this is MY truthful opinion.

Sweat-proof summer makeup!

Hello lovelies!

So, today I filmed another makeup tutorial for my YouTube channel (Tanyaskywalker) and I thought I'd share it here with you guys!

I kept the skin pretty basic. I applied some sun protection (Ambre Solaire) then followed that with the MUA matte primer to stop the makeup from slipping and sliding on those hot summer days and to minimise the size of my pores. Then,  i applied the tiniest ammount of the Bourjois 1,2,3 Perfect foundation to give me a bit of coverage and even out my skin tone. I then added a bit of Yves Rocher concealer to any blemishes that I had.

Again, I kept the eyes pretty simple. I applied some of the MUA eye primer and patted on Half Baked by Urban Decay all over the lid. I then followed up with that by adding Avon's Precision Glimmer in Bronze to the outer third and blending that up into the crease area. To give the eyes a bit more definition and a pop of colour, I smudged an Yves Rocher waterproof eye pencil in purple into the upper lashline. Then, after curling my lashes, I added a couple of coats of Maybelline's Waterproof The Rocket Volum' Express mascara.
To finish the look, to the lips I applied a Dior Addict lipgloss in Pretty Rose.

And there you go! Super quick and easy makeup that will last all day, even when you're hot and sweaty in this heat wave!

There will be more videos and tutorials coming up in my Summer Series on my YouTube channel so make sure you go and subscribe to watch out for those coming soon! :)

Until the next time,
Tanya xoxo

A true angel ♥

As a lot of you may have already heard, the beautiful, inspiring young lady, Talia Joy Castellano earned her wings earlier this week.
I just wanted to make a quick post about this news as I am deeply saddened by her passing but after seeing the video posted by her sister, Mattia, I know for a fact that she will never be forgotten and all of her dreams will continue to become a reality.
I often watched her YouTube videos on her channel (taliajoy18) and she was always so upbeat and cheerful despite what she was going through and I found that truly inspirational. She was extremely talented and she was taken away from this earth far too soon. She raised awareness of childhood cancer but still continued to be strong and brave and produce amazing videos for all of her loyal subscribers: a true hero and role-model that will live on forever.
Rest in peace, Talia.

Sephora Nail Patch Art!

Hello beauties of the internet!

Today, I tried out something new with my nails that I've been wanting to try for a while: Sephora Nail Patch Art!
It's essentially an adhesive sticker that you put on your nail that acts like nail polish. They have fancy designs and are supposedly very quick and easy to apply and long-lasting!

I definitely agree in that they are very quick and easy to apply! They come with a set of simple, easy to follow instructions!
However, one negative about this product is that you actually only get 16 nail stickers which means you can really only do one set of nails before you have to buy a new pack...would it have been so difficult to give us 20 sitckers Sephora?
I don't know how long-lasting they really are yet as I've only had them on for a matter of hours but I will definitely keep you guys updated as I too am intrigued to see how long they stay looking good on the nails for!

Battle of the skin care! Garnier vs Clearasil

GARNIER vs CLEARASIL

Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask vs Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub
(both products are in the packaging that they are in France)

So, I suppose I'll start from the beginning.
I have ALWAYS had acne prone skin. Unfortunately, puberty didn't treat me well and I got the typical "teenage face". It seemed like I tried every product on the market to clear up my blemishes but nothing ever seemed to work. Of course, over time and with age, my skin gradually began to clear up.
However, I do still occasionally struggle with breakouts and oily skin (hooray for being female). So I prefer to use a facewash/scrub that helps to keep all those problems at bay!

The first product I found was the Clearasil Biactol Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub.

It's reasonably priced, it has nice packaging and Clearasil is a brand that I trust that is widely available. It contains microbeads that gently scrub away any eccess oil, dirt and dead skin cells to help keep your face clean. It also claims to reduce spot size and redness in as little as 12 hours.
For me, I didn't experience anything "amazing" or "revolutionary" from this face scrub. Yes, after using it, my skin did feel clean and felt a lot less oily and fresh right away but my spots and blemishes didn't seem to reduce in redness or size - if anything it just made them redder! Of course, everyone's skin will react differently but for me, this face scrub felt too harsh and brutal for my skin. The microbeads felt a bit "scratchy" for me, even when I didn't scrub too hard. After using this face scrub for well over 4 months, I saw no real changes in my skin. I still got break outs pretty often and my skin was just as oily as before after a couple of hours. For me, it didn't get to the root of the problem, and keep spots at bay, it was more of just a "quick fix".
All in all, for what this face scrub cost me (under 4 euros), it was pretty good and I would recommend it if you're looking for an exfoliant. However, if you do have spot-prone skin, I wouldn't rely on it to give you the results you want (clear up your break outs). Like I said previously, everyone will be different but, for me, I was a little disappointed when I compare this scrub to the other Clearasil products I have had before.

However, recently (about a month or two ago), I switched to the Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask.
This scrub has quickly become my favourite. It can be used as a face wash, an exfoliant or a face mask. Each thing has a different result. Garnier claims that "Used As a wash: It deeply cleanses to remove excess oil and purify skin. Used as a scrub: It exfoliates dead skin cells and unclogs pores to dislodge blackheads. Used as a mask: It helps eliminate excess sebum and mattifies the skin." And to me, it really does work!
I love to use it as a mask. I apply it evenly all over my face and leave it to set for about 3 minutes. Then, I wet my hands and gently scrub in a circular motion all over my skin (which makes the mask now turn into an exfoliant) and then proceed to wash it off with warm water and pat my skin dry.
With this product, I instantly see results. It evens out my skin and reduces oil and shine. My skin has been so smooth and spot-free for the past couple of months that I've been using this product and I'm really inpressed. Like the Clearasil one, the Garnier wash-scrub-mask also contains micro beads to gently exfoliate your skin but the difference, i find, is that the beads are much smaller thus much more gentle on the skin.
As you may be able to see on the label, this face mask-scrub-wash (miracle product, more like!!) also contains salicylic acide (acide salicylique) which is known for fighting against acne and is used in a lot of acne treatments. That's probably why it's helped my skin and breakouts so much.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone! It doesn't dry out my skin or irritate it in any way and I've never had any problems or negative side effects using it! You essentially get 3 products in one bottle for one extremely reasonable price (I paid around 4 euros in Hyper U)! It does exactly what it says on the bottle and is definitely worth a try if you're looking for something that is gentle enough to use daily but is still very effective. I saw more results in the first 2 weeks of using this Garnier product than I did after using the Clearasil scrub after almost 6 months which is incredible! When I run out, this will be a repurchase for me!

Both of these products are great for the price and are both readily available and easy to find in your local drugstore or supermarket. This is just my personal opinion and, of course, everyone's skin will react differently so there may be some of you out there who prefer the Clearasil one or another product completely because everyone is different! I just thought it might help some people to see someone else's point of view and opinion if they're struggling to decide :)

So, I hope this helped someone in some way and you found this post useful :) Let me know if you like this product comparison kinda thing as I'm thinking I'll do more in the future!

Purple lips: HOT or NOT?

PURPLE

Now then, the purple lip. Is it hot or not?
Personally, I think it's all down to the shade, your skin tone, etc. You need a purple that will suit your skintone. And also, I find that pastel-purple colours look a bit too Nicki Minaj on darker skin tones (if that's the look you're going for then good).
If I were going to get a purple lip colour, I'd definitely go for a deep purple. Like a true purple or an aubergine colour like Dior's Mystere. However, the price of this lipstick definitely puts me off...30 euros for one lipstick is a bit insane...even if it is a gorgeous colour. However, if I could spare the money, I'd buy it. But seeing as though I'd be simply trying it out and not sure if I' actually wear it, I couldn't justify the price!
Dior's Mystere - Dior.com

I just think that purple is a bit more "stand out" and individual and eye-catching than say a pink or a red. And it's definitely not for the faint hearted! It makes your makeup look a bit more edgy which I love. However, if you don't feel like having purple lips, you could definitely look at some more berry-like lip colours or some purple toned pinks to try it out. Or maybe try a sheer lipstick or even a lip stain.

A matte lip could make this look even edgier - try MAC Matte Lipstick in Smoked Purple.
In my opinion, a purple lip can either look REALLY good or you can end up looking like you're wearing your little sister's halloween makeup. So try out different shades and work out which one is the best for you! If and when I find one I like that suits me, I will blog about it for sure!

boohoo.com (europe) review!

boohoo.com review!

boohoo.com is an online retailer which sells all kinds of clothes, footwear and accessories at, what I would consider, really reasonable prices! I have ordered from them twice and both times my products have been delivered quickly and have been well-packaged so nothing has been damaged. The delivery is also free to France (and other places in Europe I believe) no matter how big or small your order is which is brilliant! All the items I have received are great quality and I would definitely recomend them! Also, customers are often sent discount codes which is also a great plus!

My first item is this over-sized simple white vest with a black "kapow!!" print on it. It's great for summer because it's made from really lightweight material and is one of those vest that goes really low under the arms. Unfortunately, I don't think they sell this top anymore as I bought it in the sale but I think I paid around €6.00 or so which really isn't bad at all! It looks great with a casual pair of skinny jeans or maybe even a pair of denim shorts for those hot summer days. I have also worn this top with some shorts I made (see my "Dip-Dye and DIY" blog to see which ones I mean).

I love these! These are the Carey High Shine High Waisted Disco Pants in purple. Oh. My. Goodness. This photo does not do them justice. They are a deep purple colour and high shine but they are such good quality and have a great stretch to them! One thing I always worry about with Disco Pants is that they can look tacky because of the shiny material but these ones just look and feel great quality. They are currently priced at €15.00 although I actually got them for €13.50 because I had a discount code. But I would definitely say that if you are looking for a great pair of Disco Pants for a great price, have a look on boohoo.com!

Next was a simple little tank top which, again, is perfect for summer. It's called the Sandy Neon Famous Dip Hem Jersey Tank. Even though the material is black, it is still very cool and lightweight which is great for those really hot days! I love that the neon pink stands out so bold against the black material. You can also get this top in grey but I personally prefered the black. At the moment, it costs only €8.00  but I was lucky and managed get mine for  just €3 on sale!

Last but most certainly not least are these crazy lightning print leggings! I adore these! They're so crazy and eye-catching but can still be worn casually! I feel like Freddy Mercury or something in these. They are sooo comfy as they're made out of a jersey-like material which makes them super lightweight and stretchy. However, one thing I would say is that they can be quite see-through so make sure you're wearing a top that covers your bum otherwise everyone will know what pants you're wearing that day! Unfortunately, I don't think they sell these anymore but if I remember correctly, I paid around €10.00 for them which really isn't bad at all!

All in all, I'd definitely recommend this site to anyone! Payment is all secure (you can pay by PayPal or just enter your card details) and the delivery is extremely quick! It took less than a week to receive my items which is awesome due to the fact that I live in France and the company is based back in the UK. So if you do live in the UK, I'm assuming the delivery would be even quicker! Also, the delivery is tracked so you can keep an eye on where your package is on it's way to you at all times! They also seem to value their customers as you are constantly sent discount codes for your next order which is great and definitely a deciding factor to order from them again! I am a serious boohoo.com fan and it is definitely one of my favourite and most trusted online retailers out there!
As soon as you enter the site, they ask you where in the world you are based so that all the prices are converted into your currency and delivery charges are applied (or not) depending on where you live! There almost always seems to be some kind of sale on and there's always something affordable or very cheap so you can snap up a bargain!
Check them out! You seriously won't regret it! (though your bank account balance might hate you for a bit :P)

Dip dye and DIY!

Hello pretty ladies

DIP-DYE

So, it seems like everyone on planet earth tried out the "dip-dye" trend. And I'll admit, I have too! I've had purple dip-dye, pink, red, blue turquoise and the standard "ombre" hair.
Here are a few photos:

Even though a lot of people did it and I prefer to be different to everyone else, I really enjoyed having dip dyed hair! The first positive was that I didn't have to keep touching up my roots because the dye never touched the top of my hair!
However, I won't say that that made it less damaging because, as most of you will know, if you want "fantasy" hair colours which are semi-permanent, to be bright and vibrant on darker hair, you do need to do the ultimate damaging thing to your hair: you need to bleach it! Now, luckily I only ever needed to bleach my hair once (for the blue/turquoise hair colour) because all of the other ones went over my natural hair colour quite easily. Also, with semi-permanent hair colour, I will admit that the colour fades very fast! Especially since you will be applying the colour to just the ends. The ends of your hair get the most damaged by heat tools, brushing your hair, etc. So you do need to reapply the colour pretty often unfortunately. However, a nifty little trick I discovered with semi-permanent hair colour to stop it fading so fast is to add a little drop of the colour to your everyday conditioner so that when you put in your conditioner in the shower, more of the colour will be applied to your
hair to refresh it and keep it more vibrant!
All in all, if you want to dip-dye you hair: go for it! If nothing else, it's a bit of fun :)

DIY

So, seeing as though summer is juuuuust around the corner, I thought I'd do a little DIY to summer-up my winter wardrobe! I had an old pair of jeans that I never really wore anymore and I needed some new shorts so logic told me to cut those bad boys up! So I did!
And here are the results:

For the studs, I just took an old studded belt, picked of the studs and stuck them back into the shorts as they had little bendable spike fixtures on the back of them. I cut open the back pocket and added a section of studs so that these shorts would be able to make any outfit look a bit more edgy which  like a lot!
I think the shorts were a great success (Borat style "greeeat success!") and I'd definitely DIY my wardrobe again!

Soooo, I think that's all I have to say about that for now.
Until the next time,
Tanya xoxox

Beauty haul!!

Hello lovely people of the internet!

I sincerely apologise for not blogging lately. I've been a busy bee with school work, my birthday and what not. But in any case, I'm here now!
Soooooo, on my recent trip to the supermarket, I thought I'd buy a few new "drugstore" products that have caught my eye recently. I also went to Niort, so I just had to visit Sephora!

MAKE UP

The first being the Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation. OH. MY. GOODNESS. It's like this foundation was made for my skin! It's a medium coverage foundation but it feels so light on the skin! It doesn't go cakey and it stays put throughout the whole day! It contains 3 correcting pigments for zero imperfections: yellow pigments for anti dark circles, mauve pigments for anti dull complexion and green pigments for anti redness. It lets the skin breathe whilst giving excellent coverage for flawless skin! And the best part is that it's super affordable!

Next up is the Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express mascara (I got the waterproof version). I'm a great fan of mascara and I basically collect the stuff! If there's a good review on a mascara, I'll buy it....it's one of my weaknesses. I heard looooooads of great reviews about this mascara and I saw so many beauty gurus using this mascara on youtube (macbarbie07 for example) so I just had to give it a go!

First up, I absolutely love the packaging! Which doesn't really make much difference to the actual product itself but whatever...it looks pretty...
It really IS volumizing though! Many mascaras claim to volumize your lashes and just completely fail but this one is everything it's cracked up to be! I only paid around 7€ for this mascara which is very affordable for such a great product! I love the Maybelline mascaras and this one is no exception.

The brush is very different. It has a solid core with loooads of little flexible bristles that are all evenly spaced apart which separates and adds volume to your individual lashes.
The formula isn't too wet or too dry, it's just right (going a bit Goldilocks and the Three Bears there, Tanya.....). It doesn't make your lashes clumpy either which is something that i hate. And I think that it isn't clumpy due to the brush.
As for the waterproof side of it: it is definitely waterproof. I even tried it in the shower and it didn't run at all- it has incredible staying power! This does however mean that it takes longer that usual to remove though.

Another thing: it works well with false lashes! It doesn't dry them out or weigh them down. It helps them to keep their curl and blend with your natural lashes perfectly for a more natural look.
All in all, this is a fantastic mascara and is quickly becoming one of my favourites.

NAIL POLISHES

First and foremost, on my last trip to Sephora in Niort, I picked up my first (and definitely not my last!!) OPI nail polish! I got the shade "Get Your Number" which is one of their Liquid Sand nail colours. It has such a unique finish. It's matte glitter and looks exactly how it's described- it looks like glittery sand on your nails!

I will admit that OPI nail varnishes are a little on the pricey side - I paid around 12€ for mine. BUT they are so worth it if you buy unique colours! I have never seen anything like the Liquid Sand and I absolutely LOVE it! It doesn't chip after the first day like most nail polishes and for the price, you definitely get great quality!

This photo doesn't do it justice! There is SO MUCH glitter in this nail polish! It's perfect seen as though I'm a glitter lover and my favourite colour is blue. I LOVE YOU, OPI!!!

Next up, also from Sephora, I bought one of their own brand nail polishes. It doesn't have a name or anything, but it's an amazing colour and looks great on your nails!

It's a greeny-blue kind of oil colour. It looks lovely when it catches the light and it's such a great pop of colour on the nails! Also, this one wasn't too expensive at about 4€.

For my birthday, I got a few new nail polishes from Maybelline New York: Color Show. The first one I got is in the colour "651 Cool Blue".

This one looks fantastic with tanned or darker skin and is a great bright/pastel colour for the spring/summer! They're really pigmented too! You could get away with just one coat!

The second one I got is in the colour "Ocean Blue". This one is ever so slightly glittery which is great! It's not so glittery that it looks like a magical unicorn threw up on your nails or anything but it's juuuuuust enough to make it look a bit more interesting than your average navy blue nail polish.

I've just realised that basically all of the stuff in this haul is blue.....that wasn't intentional.....I just really love blue :-)

Sooooooo, that's the end of my beauty haul! I hope you all enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend the products that I've mentioned! I'm extremely happy with my purchases and if you guys have any recent hauls you'd like to share, leave the link in the comments and I'd love to have a look! Or if you have any products you recommend, leave a comment and I'll give it a try :-)

I hope you all have a lovely day wherever you are in the world and whatever you're doing!

Until next time,
Tanya xoxox

Beauty wishlist

My birthday is months away and Christmas is too long of a wait...so basically, I had better start saving my pennies...

Hello lovely people! I just thought I'd make a quick post to share my current beauty wants which are the reason that my bank card is having a bit of a rest (much needed)!

The first thing I really want to get my manicured mitts on is DEFINITELY the Urban Decay Vice palette. It's just soooooo preeeeetty *drools and gazes in awe at the pure beauty of this palette*. It just contains some of my favourite colours! And, whilst this palette contains some of the exciting, edgy colours that Urban Decay is know for (beauty with an edge) it also contains some more neutral shades so that the palette isn't too crazy and so you can create some more wearable everyday looks (for the less adventurous of us) but still with a pop of colour. There's such a perfect balance between neutral and brights which is just spot on.

Secondly, I really like the look of the Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara. I've heard brilliant reviews about it and I am a self confessed mascara addict and lover of Benefit products. Plus, it just has a cool name and packaging..

One of the most affordable things products I'd like to try is the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. So many youtubers (Tanya Burr for example (love her channel, check it out and plus we have the same first name so woohoo!)) use this foundation and it just looks sensational on the skin! It does exactly what it says on the tin: it instantly wakes up the skin and gives you a lovely, healthy glow. I'll be sure to try it out myself and do a review to see if all the hype is indeed true!

And finally (for now at least), I kind of want to try the MAC Blacktrack fluid liner. However, I don't know how it'll compare to my usual Rimmel gel liner which is a fraction of the price of MAC! However, I can excuse the price if the product is worth it. So I think it's at least worth a try!

That'll be all for now. I hope you're all well and having a lovely morning/day/evening wherever you are in the world!
Until next time,
Tanya xxx
